Dear YVCS Families:
Thank you for attending tonight's Townhall. For those were unable to attend please contact the school office so that we can update you on key information that was covered in tonight's meeting essential to know before your student begins school on Monday August 29th at 8:30am.
Mr. Scott Gillespie, Chairman of the Board, provided a recap of his August letter mailed to all families highlighting the work of the Board and the office staff over the summer to prepare for a strong beginning to the new school year.
Ms. Virginia Siegel, Board Treasurer, addressed the recently approved 2016-2017 budget with a strong forecast for how the school is taking steps in tandem with our Director of Admissions, Communications & Donor Relations, Mr. JC Araujo, on building a strong fund development program for the future of our school.
As the Interim Principal, I addressed the families with my testimony of the Lord's calling me to serve at YVCS in this leadership role. I also shared how enthusiastically the staff are preparing for the start of school during this week of orientation meetings and professional development training to enhance the learning environment for the students the Lord is sending to us this year.
Special reminder that this coming Saturday August 27th is a volunteer workday, you can start building your volunteer hours from 7:00am to Noon followed by our Back to School picnic
This Saturday is a time where your whole family (including relatives) can join in on various projects to serve our school by raking leaves, pulling weeds, planting flowers, laying tan bark, painting and all kinds of other things to make our campus ready for the first day of school. At noon, the workday will conclude with a celebratory picnic lunch complete with music, games and with a sampling of food from our new hot lunch provider. This is a great opportunity to meet other families, classmates, teachers and staff members in a non-formal setting.
